The DC-DC battery charger is installed between the starter battery and the leisure battery, or between the solar panel and the leisure battery, allowing you to charge the leisure battery by pulling power from the vehicle's alternator or solar panel.
The charger utilizes maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technology to ensure that it converts the majority of the available energy by locking onto the maximum power point. This MPPT algorithm enables the charger to quickly track the maximum power point of the PV array, with a tracking efficiency of up to 99%, significantly improving the energy harvested from your solar panels.
The DC-DC charger supports input from both solar panels and the starter battery simultaneously. The bulk charge voltage is 14.7V for AGM/Gel batteries, 14.4V for lead-acid/lithium batteries, and 15.4V for calcium batteries. The absorption stage uses constant voltage with automatic amperage control, and the equalization stage is automatic.
The float charge voltage is 13.5V for AGM/Gel, lead-acid, and calcium batteries, with a float charge current of 100mA. The charger is suitable for battery ranges from 18 to 250Ah.
